My Typhoon weekender was wired for navigation lights, vhf, interior light and an auxiliary power plug by a previous owner. The main wiring from the fuse panel runs to the area beneath the filler panel between the v-berths (where the porta-potti usually resides -- this is the only objection I have concerning the location). I haven't tried putting a battery in yet, but I will in the Spring. Question: Has anyone else wired their Weekender? If so, what size and type battery(ies) do you use and where do you put it (them)?
An advantage to the location is that it is on centerline and is far enough forward to help trim out the weight of the outboard.
Thanks,
Paul

Typhoon Weekender battery location?

Re: Typhoon Weekender battery location?
Years ago I wired a weekender and placed the battery between the cockpit drain hoses, as I remember. Awkward, but out of the way of the V berth area. I don't know whether this is better or worse for balance.Paul R. Re: Typhoon Weekender battery location?
My battery box (and tie down clips) was located between the cockpit drains as well. It is out of the way and down low and centered. Haven't installed one in the two years I have sailed her but it seems to make sense.joe wrote:Years ago I wired a weekender and placed the battery between the cockpit drain hoses, as I remember. Re: Typhoon Weekender battery location?
I've just purchased a Weekender this past November, and the battery location is just forward of the Porta-potti encasement. The previous owner built a wooden compartment to fit a small lawn mower battery (the electrics on the boat are for the Nav lights and a small cassette deck).
