Our CD25, Hunky Dory, has an '89 Honda 8HP and the back of the lazerette was cut out/modified for it to fit. It's a bit bulky 'cause it's a 4-stroke. Heavy too! I pulled it yesterday to put some anti-fouling paint on the lower. We;re docked year round in Corpus Christi, TX and subject to LOTS of growth on things in the water. We have never had this engine much above a high idle. Big open bay with no real currents. Most of the smaller boats here are fitted with 5 or 6 HP motors for aux use. Smaller I mean up to 27ft or so. I'm thinking of replacing this heavy Honda with something lighter and newer. So I guess we'll both be interested in the replies. In the meantime I'm gonna do a search of the postings to see what else is here. Just about anything I need to know has been dis-cussed somewhere. THANX alan (Anne's out w her Mom seeing the sights- Canucks aren't used to summer in Jan
)).

I have an 8hp Yahama (long-shaft) on my CD 25. It fits fine, however, I'd suggest a remote throttle if one is available (I'm not sure). It has more than enough power and I've found it to be quite reliable. However, in order to ensure that it remains so I pull it after every use. Quite a pain in the the back really, but I made the mistake of keeping in the well for a couple of weeks and I was punished for it with clogged intakes and overheating. Never again.michael dowd wrote: Just looking for an outboard that will fit into CD25 without making any changes ...and any comments about performance
