Dirty Mast

Post by Peter Baumgartner »

I am working on a 1977 Cape Dory 27 "London" Hull 35 (nee Loon) which was left outside uncovered for 10 years. The mast has black stains on it which I have not as yet been able to remove. I have tried washing, Ajax & a nylon pot scrubber, a Duro manufactured Aluminum Cleaner, and even the fiberglass cleaner on& off. All on small test patches. Nothing really does the job. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Try using Amway Industroclean. It is an excellent cleaner as well as a deoxidizer. Put it on and let it do its work before you rinse it off. It will take very little rubbing. Do not let it dry!
