1) What year was the anchor locker added?

2) What is the water and fuel tankage?

3) Is storage available under the port and starboard settees or did Cape Dory use the space for tankage?

4) How is the storage in the galley?

Thanks

My 1977 CD27 has one; it is hull #37
Bob wrote: 2) What is the water and fuel tankage?
30 Gallons water; six gallons fuel
Bob wrote: 3) Is storage available under the port and starboard settees or did Cape Dory use the space for tankage?
There are storage lockers below and outboard of both settees.
Bob wrote: 4) How is the storage in the galley?
The icebox is not particularly insulated; there are shallow storage areas aft of the stove in the countertop. There isn't much else in the galley area.

My CD 27 is a 1982 (#238)
Bob wrote: 1) What year was the anchor locker added?
I have an anchor locker.
Bob wrote: 2) What is the water and fuel tankage?
30 gals water
12 gals fuel

Holding tank occupies 2/3 of the area under port settee. Starboard side is empty.
Bob wrote: 4) How is the storage in the galley?
Stbd side (icebox) has shallow storage aft & outboard as well as a small drawer.
Port side (stove) same as stbd. plus pot storage locker.

Do you mean 'anchor' locker or 'anchor rode locker'? My 81 (#218) has a hawse pipe through the deck for the anchor rode. The anchor resides on the bow pulpit.

Bob,
Sorry, my mistake. I have an anchor rode locker as you do. The anchor itself was mounted on the bow pulpit but I have since added a small bowsprit to hold a bruce anchor.

Mike,

Was the bowspirit purchased or did you make something custom?

Thanks for the information. I am interested in a CD 27 (about 1200 miles away) and have been playing phone tag with the broker.

It sounds like the boat has some rot or water damage at the bottom of the bulkhead on the port side. Any experience with this kind of problem?

In the listing it noted anchor storage, so I didn't know if the boat came with an anchor well, anchor locker, or what.

Any additional information about the boat or storage would be appreciated.

Bob,
The bowsprit, when I finish, be custom. Last August I had requested information on this BB about removing the stemhead fitting on a CD27 and adding a teak plank to serve as a bowsprit. Bill Goldsmith, a fellow CD27 owner and reader of this BB, responded with pictures and information about the "factory installed" bowsprit on his CD27 (thanks again Bill).

Since pulling the boat for the winter I have removed the stemhead fitting and built the bowsprite out of 1 1/2" thick teak. The Bow Roller has been ordered from Robinhood Marine (page #2 in the Spartan catalog). I still have to cut the slot for the Bow Roller, machine off the overhang on the original stemhead fitting and cetol the bowsprit before bolting everything back on.

Right now I'm waiting on Robinhood Marine to send the roller. I won't make the cutout in the bowsprit until I have the bow roller casting in hand with it's actual dimensions.

I expect to bolt the stemhead fitting thru the bowsprite and back into the original 6 tapped holes. Additional bolts in the bowsprit aft of the stemhead fitting will serve to secure the bowsprit to the foredeck. Liberal amouts of calking (5200?) will serve to further secure the bowsprit to the boat and compensate for my woodworking skills.

Come spring I will be able to kick the bruce off the bowsprit rather than haul it out of a sail locker.
