While cleaning up the cabin this weekend and looking around trying to avoid having to rake our leaves, it occurred to me that there'd be a lot more room below without the strange hinged things the back of the settee's cushions are velcroed on to. Does anyone know the purpose of these things? it looks like the cushions will work just fine pushed against the ceiling and under the fixed shelves.

Re: Settee shelves

i guess the seat back are for comfort while seated! Otherwise the lean back position would be too big. However, I have thought of making a cutout (in the liner) behind the wood that folds up and making some kind of storage (to port and starbd). I know there is "some" room there, but I am not sure how much or if it would be worth the effort!
Any other ideas?
