As a new CD30K owner, I was extremely pleased to find this site -- what a great resource! I saw a 4/97 posting that mentioned a CD owners association on the East Coast; did this ever get off the ground? Would love any information! We sail out of Annapolis.

Re: East Coast CD Association
Kristin - Good Question. Several heated discussions have taken place regarding the formation of regional organizations (East Coast, South, National, Boston Harbor, NY/NJ/CT, North East). I have not seen any formal "Associations" formed from these discussions. The gracious support that the CCDO has provided for CD owners nationally has eliminated the need to create separate groups. Several of us have utilized this site to exchange e-mail addresses and have begun initial planning for a get together in the NY/CT area. The CCDO lists all gatherings on this site. This nationally recognized site provides a wealth of information which local Associations could never replicate, or want to try.Kristin Schwitzer wrote: As a new CD30K owner, I was extremely pleased to find this site -- what a great resource! I would recommend you monitor the "News & Events" page for events in your area, or better yet, plan something.

Kristin:
I keep my CD30 in the West River (Galesville/Hartge's). We have an active group in the Cape Dory Sailboat Owner's Association (CDSOA) with a national membership (geographically speaking). As luck would have it, there is a meeting IN ANNAPOLIS on Saturday nite (11/7/98). Contact me off list and I'll provide you with all the relevent information, contacts, etc.
Where's your ketch? I'll be on a mooring this weekend in Annapolis with my daughter and some of her college friends. We'll be in and around town on Sat/Sun. Look for the vessel Dessert First (a Sea Ray 44) on the seawall by ego alley. It's my friend's floating condo and we'll be using that as our party barge. Come have a drink with us!!!

I am a board member of the Cape Dory Sailboat Owners Association (CDSOA) whose current epicenter is the Chesapeake Bay. However, we are structured as a national organization. As Tad mentioned there is an Annual Meeting Saturday, the seventh of November at the Annapolis Holiday Inn on Riva Road. It begins at 1300 hrs and goes through an evening dinner. We would love to see you there. If you are interested in attending the meeting please call Susan Bober at (410) 841-6962 or email her at mitchb@helix.org . For membership info and application you can contact Jim Turner, our secretary, at (609) 596-8618 or email him at jturner@net-gate.com .
CDSOA was formed 2 years ago and currently has over 100 members from all over the country. Our plan is to establish fleets throughout the country as the need or interest warrants. We have a committee working on that now. We hold several "on" and "off" water events as well as a bimonthly news letter and a yearbook. We also have a member discount arrangement with Robinhood Yachts for boat parts. In addition there is a line of logo products available from our quartermaster.
If I can be of further help please feel free to contact me at (410) 647-8060 or by email.
