Looking for companies that sell pre-made mainsail for typhoon weekender or for suggestions of New England sailmakers that other owners have used. Also, the approximate cost for a new mainsail. Thanks.

Typhoon Weekender main sail

Re: Typhoon Weekender main sail
I bought a new main for my CD28 two seasons ago from Ralph DiMattia in Squantum, MA. Email me and I'll dig his phone number out if you want. He has all the measurements needed... the new main is then cut to order.
It's a good time of year to buy... you get the fall discount and usually cloth prices go up over the winter.
My main cost about $1500, but that was for a 28.

Re: Typhoon Weekender main sail
Ralph DiMattia in Quincy (617-328-1100) or Dave Howard in Marshfield, MA (781-834-1382) are the best around. I have had repair work done by Ralph, and sailed with Dave. Both are very knowledgeable and reasonably priced.

Re: Typhoon Weekender main sail
I had a custom sail made for me at a local loft here in Houston Tx. and had great results. I wanted more performance so I had the roach brought way out until it touched the back stay and had two full battens included. Since it gets windy down here and my wife doesn't like it when water reaches the rail I had some extra reef point put in. I also wanted the sail to last a long time so I went with a heaver 7.0 oz cloth and changed from slugs to a bolt rope. I had all this done for approx. $600. If you need the name of this loft e-mail and I'll pass on the info. They will ship sails to you.
