Could someone give me the proper boot stripe color for a 1977, CD 27. Were all CD 27's the same color? Thank you!

The original color was Interlux Dado Dark Brown 246. This is no longer produced according to Interlux. Try a true dark brown from them or Pettit. I was lucky to find a pint in an old chandler's store.

CDs had two color "schemes" that I am aware of......

during the 70s you will see blue bottom, Glouster Seminole Red #598 Boot top

during the 80s you will see brown bottom, Interlux Dado Brown boot top
Interlux does not make the that brown anymore....use Pettit Brightwork Brown #3510.

Re: boot stripe color (New Color?)

No offense to those who like the color, but I think the brown boottop is, well, less than good looking. Since I was repainting my boottop from scratch (having re-barrier-coated the bottom), I went for Navy blue.

I must say, I am very pleased with the results. I don't have a dodger (not yet, anyhow) and my boom and tiller covers are old and probably will be in need of replacement relatively soon; so, I think I will phase everything over to blue.

I know blue's kind of boring, but brown is . . . just too 70s.

Best, :)
