Hi,
Is't a dum question. How can i made my close turnbucles lock where i want them. Past saturday, i was sailing when i look at the turnbucles and all of them was unlocks all the nuts was untie. Last year on my TY it was easy to secure them because i got the open turnbucles but with the closes ones, i do'nt know how to do this.
Help will be appreciate.

Turnbucles...How can i made them lock

Re: Turnbucles...How can i made them lock
You need to back off (loosen) the two nuts--one above and one below each turnbuckle. You can then tighten the turnbuckle to the desired rigging tension by holding the swaged fitting above the turnbuckle with pliers or small visegrips and at the same time turn the turnbuckle clockwise or counterclockwise to decrease or increase the rigging tension, respectively. The exposed threaded portion above and below the turnbuckle should be approximately the same. Once the rigging tension has been adjusted for all the stays, you need to hold the turnbuckle in place and at the same time, tighten the nuts above and below the turnbuckle. The closed turnbuckles that I had years ago on a Ty had a small hole in the center of the turnbuckle that one could insert an awl or nail to hold the turnbuckle in place while tightening the two nuts. If the nuts continue to loosen, you could try locknuts or Locktite. Hope this helps.
