What's the right size for a riding sail? I have my old, original main... it's well past its life as a working sail, but the cloth would do just fine otherwise. It has the CD28 logo which is a nice touch. I figure I can convert the sail slides to hanks and add tack and clew fittings as needed.
So... how much of the main do I want to use as a riding sail?
Oh... as an additional benefit, can I use a riding sail when backing out of my slip to move the stern downwind? I'd sheet it in just as I cast off and let it luff once the bow was heading in the right direction.

Riding Sail Size?

Re: Riding Sail Size?
Neil,
Ours is about three feet tall and 4 feet long at the tip. Make the triangle equal sided in length and angle (Sailrite kits are apparently not that way..their tip tends to drrop a little, and looks odd from a distance). This works great for our CD30..tested in winds to 55 kts.
