My aging back cannot lift the CQR, and 30' of heavy chain out of hard pack mud, day after day after.... However, the configuration of the bow on the 28 s/v is such that I do not know where to put an electric windlass. What is that housing on deck there? The anchor pipe is inside, under the cover, and there is a connection for another sail on the top. Can I adapt this for a windlass? Then there is the bow sprit and the furling drum, with is very close to the sprit. Oh my, I would love to have the windlass, but neither myself nor others can see a solution. Wiring it would not be a problem, better than wiring my back. Will listen to advice from anyone. Love cruising but.... Bill in Maine

Re: Electric windlass - CD 28
The former owner installed a Maxwell 500 windless on my CD28, with aplproximately 300 feet of chain, and it works great! Got some pictures of it, as another fellow CD is installing one. If you would like me to send some pics to you, give me a hollar.
