Made an offer today on a 25D. Upon inspection of area in anchor locker, particularly backing area for headstay and tang, i noticed a large aluminum plate that appears to be backing the deck mounted through bolts. The tang seems to be void of backing other than what is glassed in and out of sight. Should I be seeing this aluminum plate in this area? Is this a fix for perhaps steel backing plates? I had thought, based on what I have read here to date that 1980 and before seemd to be the steel plate issue. This is hull #4 and a 1982.
