Outboard Motor for a CD25

Post by Stu Mitchell »

I have a CD25 which we sail in the Hudson River in the Nyack area. The 9.9 motor which was on the boat when it was purchased has given up the ghost. A Nissan 9.8 has been suggested as a replacement. If anybody has had any experience with that motor or has any other suggestions, I would appreciate hearing from you. Bear in mind that we deal with both currents and tides and wind vagaries resulting from the heights bordering the western shore of the river.

We use a Mercury 9.9 long shaft on our CD25 (#76 Tema). It pushes her along nicely but more thrust with something like a 15hp I think would be far better; in particular considering tides, etc. (we sail midwest great and small lakes). Note, drop me an email, I'm FREQUENTLY in Nyack and White Plains on biz dreaming of our boat in Chicago!

I had a CD25 in Boston. Sailed out of Hingham and down on the Upper Cape. We had a Yamaha 9.9 long shaft and the boat performed well in all conditions. I'm now in Portland, OR without a boat and we miss our CD 25 very much. Hope you enjoy yours.
