Well designed and constructed things usually hold their value better than poorly made things. Boats are no exception. People who own well designed and made things are usually happy with them. Is there something more profound implied but perhaps not stated in your question?

As Tom points out, the boats are well designed and well made; therefore, owners experience a higher degree of reliability and safety. These boats are designed for cruising and are safe and comfortable in a variaty of sea conditions. For me, the peace of mind in knowing that my family is cruising in a boat engineered to be safe and reliable, in whatever conditions Mother Nature decides, is all that matters. To a somewhat lesser degree, there is a certain sense of pride in owning a boat made in New England, one at a time, by a family run yard.

When I had a smaller, lighter, less sturdily built boat, and there were whitecaps on San Francisco Bay, I'd skip boating for the day. If the forecast was for 25 knots or more in the afternoon, I'd worry about going out in the morning. (My level of experience and tolerance for motion are probably less than the average boater's.) So I bought a Cape Dory 30 powerboat and stopped worrying about that stuff.

The boat is overbuilt, and the amount and quality of the teak joinerwork inside is fabulous. It is stiff in the water - doesn't rock all over the place if someone walks from port to starboard. It's actually more stable than my dock.

Its lines are classic. People admire the boat.

I have been searching the net for boats and I found Cape Dorys.
I thought they were very nice looking boats.I was on the ICW and
saw one going the other way it was a 28 what a beautiful boat.I wanted
to turn around and look at it closer.But thought the owner might get upset.I was interested in how they handled and what thier owners thought of them.
