How does a person get into the mechanical fresh water pump in the galley sink? Ours doesn't want to pump water. CD 27 "Glissade"#228, 1981.

Doug,
I assume you have the hand pump/faucet integrated unit rather than a foot pump that may have been added later.
If you have the removeable drawer (some early CD27's don't) on the bulkhead aft of the starboard settee, you may be able to reach the retaining nuts by reaching under. You'll probably have better access removing the engine cover/steps and reaching the retaining nut that way. Remove the nut(s) (I'm not sure if there are more than one) and the faucet should lift up. West advertises service kits for the Whale Flipper and one other hand operated pump/faucet. I truly doubt there is a service kit available for the original CD27 faucet, but there may be a model number discernable somewhere on the pump after removal. If no service kit is available, it's probably easiest to replace the unit.

Access to this handpump inards was gained by twisting off the black cap on the end of the punp that the pump shaft goes through. This allowed me to draw out the valve/diaphram/ or whatever it is. Anyhow applied alittle grease to the black cup like gizmo on the end of the pump shaft and we maybe good to go for another 20 years. Thanks Doug
