I purchased a new 100% Jib for my CD25. Up to now, I've been sailing with on a large genoa. Yesterday while sailing for the first time with the new sail, I had trouble finding the correct route for the new sheets. Seems like no matter where I ran them, I still had loud luffing at the head of the sail. Maybe I'm just overly sensitive to the sound of the new,crisp sail. I'd like advice from other CD25 owners where to run them, whether outside the shrouds, between them, under or over the safety line, do I use the blocks back by the winches that I use for my genoa or do I use the padeyes at mid-deck? thanks, Scott

Hi Scott,
A 100% should go through a pad eye or block at mid deck, shown unused here. Many CD25 don't have these. For a 100, you may need to go between the fwd lower and the cap shrouds with the sheet before feeding the eye/block to keep the sheet off the shrouds - depends on the sail's cut.
I find my 135% is as small as my genoa tracks can handle (shown flying here). Again, this depends on the cut of the sail (and where your tracks end). Two sails with the same % label may have different leech lengths, moving the foot of the sail higher or lower, clew fwd/aft etc. This will all affect the proper angle for the sheet to come off the sail and where the sheet should land on the boat.

I didn't have time today to try again, I'll practice more tomorrow. One thing for sure though, I noticed you have a block where I just have a padeye. What a difference it makes. With my genoa, I've never had to use a winch handle to trim the sail, just pulled it in by hand, even my 95 lb girlfriend has no problem handling it. With the new smaller sail running the sheets through the padeye, we've had to use the winch handle. I'll be running to the store first thing in the morning. Scott
