My 84 Cape Dory 36 has some serious cosmetic deck cracking which, I am told, is inherant with that model. What do I have to do to solve the problem.

Re: Deck Cracking
There are extensive posts on this subject in the archives. Basically if it's just cosmetic it's not serious, if it's serious it's more than just cosmetic. Apparently it's caused by Cape Dory wanting to do a superior job made the gelcoat too thick and thus rather than flex it crazes and cracks. As long as it's water tight and hasn't passed moisture to the balsa core, it's cosmetic and many cosmetic cures have been discussed on the board. If there is moisture in the balsa core it has to come out of there or it will spread and only get worse. This has also been covered at length on the BB. It is common on Cape Dorys.
