Greetings fellow sailors,
I just set up the rig and finally tuned it on our CD 33 for the first time. I believe I got it right. My question is how can you eyeball proper headstay sag? We have a Harken 1.5 roller furler and 150 Genoa. The boat sails well with little weather helm when trimmed. I estimate the sag at about 5 inches out of straight when looking up the headstay from the furler. I did not use a loos gauge as I want to develop the proper feel for the rig. The mast is straight and does not fall off at the top. The leeward shrouds just go slack at 15 knots. The furler works smoothly as a new Harken should.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Paul Danicic

Re: Proper Headstay Sag
The way you described it makes me think the rig is too loose...especially for a 33' foot boat
