High tech question: Can the wooden dorade on my CD28 be removed for complete refinishing? How is it attached? Would it be too labor intensive...i.e., refinish the box already in place? Thanks. Bill

Dorade removal

Re: Dorade removal
On the CD30 the box is simply screwed to a molded riser in the fiberglass cabin top with a few sheet metal screws and they are bunged over. Just remove the bungs, remove the screws and then carefully pry loose the dorade from the deck. It may be stubborn to come loose because it is heavily caulked in place. In my opinion you are much better off refinishing the dorade box with it in place.

Re: Dorade removal
I just removed mine and refinished them off the boat. Really easy to do and nice to get the crud out of the inside as well. Mine had Acrylic tops so I replaced the old nasty tops for nice new stuff. Made them look great. Taped the deck openings over to keep out rain.
