Where to buy bronze set screws for cutless bearing?

Post by Jim »

Anyone know where I can buy bronze set screws that secure cutless bearing? The ones from my CD22D are not salvageable and appear to be 3/16", slotted head and 10 24 screw size. I've tried Spartan--will not sell me just the screws. Also tried a number of places in New England area without success. Stainless screws are available, however, only with an allen-type head. Should I use stainless and if so, what size? Thanks.

I got a bunch of them at Aubuchons when I did mine last year. Or I'm pretty sure Jamestown Distributers in RI would have them. They have a web site. Good Luck

Thanks for the suggestions. However, neither Aubuchon's or Chesapeake Fasteners carry bronze set screws. Guess I will have to use stainless.

i've redone my cutlass bearing twice, used stainless set screws with allen heads (1/4 -20 if memory serves) and they work perfectly well
