What are the correct procedures for using and charging my batteries? I have the standard bank of 2 batteries and the standard original switch = 1,2,All and Off.
Do I start in 1,2 or All? Do I charge individually or in parallel? How often should I charge?
I am replacing my batteries. Should I buy deep cycle or starting batteries?
Is there a wiring diagram available for installing the two batteries?
Thanks.

If you do a search under battery charging or something to that effect you'll see enough information to write a small book on the subject. Some of the better information on there is from Larry D of which that info has educated me termendously.

Re: Batteries - CD27-191
What's worked for me for a long time...
I have two deep cycles. I start the motor using "both." When I'm sailing, I stop the motor and change to either "1" or "2," depending on whether it's an odd or even day. This balances usage and leaves a battery fully charged for starting in case the other runs down. The batteries get no charge other than what they get motoring.
Note that I'm not a heavy user of amp hours.
