Hi,
Can anyone tell me if the cd25 is self-bailing.. Also, does the outboard get in the way or is it nicely concealed.
Thanks

Is the CD25 self-bailing?

Yes, mine is self-bailing.....every pretty girl I talk into a boat ride, bails out as soon as I get near any kind of dock or dry land!
Seriously, they are self bailing, but the scuppers are small. Later ones have a bridge deck (nice setup) and a smaller outboard well. My early boat has a very large, full width lazarette, with a 12" square hole for the outboard to drop through (this lazarette is completely sealed from the main hull). Plenty of room for the outboard handle, gas cans, etc., but prone to picking up a lot of water in following seas (large ones, that is). I've made a 2-piece molded insert that fills the hole, with outboard in place, that keeps a lot of water out (it has a raised section, wrapping up around the lower unit). Additionally, I've added a one way drain at the bottom of the lazarette. I think the later boats probably lift their stern better in following, breaking seas.
Go to the "Cape Dorys" button, the "Specifications...." section of the website. Click on the line drawing of a CD25, and you'll get all the websites with pictures of our boats.
