Our CD27 has the regular bails on the mast facing aft, and on the boom; so at some point she may have had a regular line/block vang setup; dunno. But I do want the support from a rigid vang.
Getting rid of topping lift and gaining vang control are the motives.... there are various nice looking units out there. Anyone familiar with the Hall "QuikVang"? Looks like an extremely nice unit.
The unit looks great and the mast/boom fittings are very rugged. Any comments will be very much appreciated!
I know, continuing to outfit a boat "for sale" must be a disease common to all CD owners - the boats just have to be in the best possible shape, no matter what:)

Great minds think alike! I just got a Boomkicker this week. I was going to install it on SQN today but it was so beastly hot and then the T-Storms started to roll in. I did it because my new mainsail has a bigger roach and the topping lift keeps slapping against it. Also, the boomkicker will help with reefing and downwind sailing. They're inexpensive...mine was $176 for the CD27 from pyacht.com which included the shipping. Everyone I've corresponded with who has one just loves it. Install it and forget it! I'll probably get mine installed by next week. Look at www.boomkicker.com or go to pyacht.com and go to the list of manufactures and click on boomkicker.

Yves,
I too have been thinking about this and would like to hear about your choice and progress. Its ok for us to spend money now. We have taken "London" off the market.
