I'd think just using the hull # is perfectly acceptable.

I ran into the same question when I applied for a PHRF rating in New England. If you are applying for a PHRF, apply with the Hull Number (five digits). If for your own reason, use what appeals to you.

PHRF will assign if you want them too.
