Of the 277 CD27's produced, does anyone know how many were produced with the Westerbeke diesel, i.e. is trying to find one like looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack?

I have tried to do some research on this as my CD27 (#247) has a Yanmar 2GM and I was trying to find out if it was original equipment. Best I could determine, the single cylinder Yanmar was used until about 1981 or 82, a few 2 cylinder Yanmars were used in 1982, and then Westerbekes were used until the end. I am guessing only that the last 20-25 hulls had the Westerbeke. Perhaps there are some other folks on this board that have more definitive info than this, but I think this is close to accurate.

I think Clay is right. I looked hard for a 27 a couple years ago. A friend says 1983 is when they started with the Westerbeke. Hull numbers of 260 up had them, I think. At one point several were on the market with hull numbers in the 260s; I missed the best ones. Don't know about the 2GM Yanmars; I thought they were upgrade/replacements.Clay Stalker wrote: Clay Stalker

Mine is a 2GM 13HP....the later upgrade 2GMs have 18 HP. I thought mine must be an upgrade and discussed this with Dave Perry from Robinhood Marine. We both researched this and couldn't come up with anything definate....but he believes a few of the early 2GMs were put into CD27s before they started with the Westerbekes....there are a couple of folks out there with these, and they think they were original.

Re: CD27/Westerbeke
My CD27 is an 84, hull #272 and is equipped with the W13....Ii's been a great engine, and provides more than adequate power for conditions up here in Casco Bay.
Saw a post maybe a year ago on this board from another W13 equipped CD27 regarding the abscence of intake air filtering. Thought his was an 83.
