Who has molds for Cape Dory 45 Ketch?

Post by Jeff Doughty »

Recently, I saw a Cape Dory 45 ketch for sale used, but missed it. Supposedly only three were made. I'm looking for who has the molds now. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Catherine,

Just curious, do you know who has the 30 and 33 molds?

Conspicuous (I may have missed something) by their absence are: CD 27, 28 & 30 sailboats. I know Robinhood completed a 30, I think from existing but unused hull and deck. Are these molds gone, or whereabouts just unknown at this time?

Joe:

My understanding is that Robinhood has the 30 molds, the 27 have been lost, and I don't know about the 28. I believe this is accurate information.

Thanks, Clay. I recall an article about the firm that bought the power boat molds years ago. In it I believe they said the 28 molds were part of that deal. Now, I've learned that my recollections are not what they once were, so....
