Pricing on cd 25?
I'm sitting here thinking about proper pricing on a late 70's/early 80's cd 25 with the outboard. I have some exerience on repairs/additions since i have updated our 34 hunter. I think a price of 15k would be about right for a 25 cd that is a strong 8 or 9. 10 Is not possible unless it is a total restoration. The said boat would have a late model 4 stroke probably a 9.9 hp, roller furling with decent sails, maybe some upgrades inside like new cushions, lighting, etc, maybe shore power and a trailer. The hull and bottom would be without issue with mimimal topside crazing. From that starting point I would deduct for the shortcomings. Does this sound like a reasonable staring point to you cd pros? thanks . craig

Re: Pricing on cd 25?
Acording to www.BUCVALUE.com, the Retail Price Range: $8850-$10,100 USD for a 1980 CD25 excluding outboard or trailer plus 10% to 20% depending on how bristol she is.
Is this a project you are contemplating? It sounds as if you have a boat in mind but don't have all the details.

Re: Pricing on cd 25?
You're a little high. I would price a CD25 in excellent condition with trailer and less than five year old 4 stroke and the other upgrades you mention at $12,500.00 to $13,500.00. There are three boats on Yachtworld.com that fit or nearly fit your criteria. If your budget allows, there are also a couple of the CD26 model on the market in the $16,000.00 to $18,000.00 range. The CD26 is a later model, so a 1985 is not too hard to find. Both are excellent boats.craig wrote: I'm sitting here thinking about proper pricing on a late 70's/early 80's cd 25 with the outboard. I've never heard of a C25 of that vintage/description going for more than $11,000. MOst seem to go for (asking price, anyway) between $6,000 and $9000, depending on condition and location.

Re: Pricing on cd 25?
I have been tracking the CD25 selling prices for a while now and have found that those that have little need for restoration, having new to near new sails and without a trailer are selling for about 5000-8000. Those with a trailer are selling 9500-10500. Of course me ol' father in law says "Well....I am asking ye 8000 fer de boat but I will takes more"craig wrote: I'm sitting here thinking about proper pricing on a late 70's/early 80's cd 25 with the outboard. Re: Pricing on cd 25?
Hi Craig and those who responded to his pricing question;
I have owned "SOLITUDE" a 25 foot Cape Dory sail boat with a 9 horsepower Yanmar Diesel engine for more than 10 years. I don't claim to be a "pro" but it seems to me there is a certain amount of "loosey goosey" terminology in your question. I don't mean to quibble, but you use the words "CD-25" and "25-CD" as though they were inter-changeable. I don't think so.I have always considered "CD-25" as distinguishing a Cape Dory with a diesel engine, whereas a Cape Dory 25 has an outboard. Also, the diesel powered boat,because of it's added cost, reliability, durability and saftey factor should bring a substantially higher sales price. N'est pas?

Re: Pricing on cd 25?
I was quite clear in my message it is the one with the outboard. I have no interest in a 25d. thanks to the rest for your help.craig wrote: I'm sitting here thinking about proper pricing on a late 70's/early 80's cd 25 with the outboard.
