Double reef line for CD25 mainsail

Post by Michael Davis »

I recently purchased a Lee Sail for my CD25. My old lee sail had only one reefing point. My new sail has two. I am not familiar with the way the lines should be set for double reefing. Can anyone help? Thanks.

I just had a new reef point put in my CD25D mainsail. I don't think that it will be much different from yours. I have a cheek block at the clew for the out haul. This is on the other side from the reefing gear for the first reef. There is a padeye on the other side of the boom and the line runs from the padeye through the sail and to the cheek block. Then, these run forward to a cleat on the boom. It is all attached so that I can ease the main, attach the tack of the sail to the hook on the boom, then pull in the reefing line while forward. It works well and sailing with an extra reef in is fun in some of the stiffer breezes that we get.
