In Search of Proper Sized O-Ring for Diesel Fill

After reading suggestions on this esteemed board to inspect the diesel deck fill O-ring, I did. Before inpecting it, on the way to the boat I stopped and bought a package of two Perko standard replacement deck fill O-rings. When I got to the boat I found that the deck fill O-ring was indeed cracked and dry and needed replacement (probably what has caused my water separator primary filter to be working overtime).

Unfortunately, the deck fill is not Perko--there is a stamp on the inside that says "TMI." The diameter of the ring was okay, but the thickness of the ring was way too thin. The dry, cracked one in the existing fitting was about 1/8" thick, while the Perko was about 1/16" thick--probably not sufficient to seal the gland.

I was unable to find TMI as a maker of deck fills, so I searched for a direct replacement O-ring.

I found that there are standard sizes for these things. I took out a ruler and determined that the existing O-ring was 1/8" thick, 1 7/8" OD, 1 5/8" ID, and that translated to the industry standard AS-568A-223. Well, the local hardware store doesn't have 'em. Home Depot doesn't have 'em (they only carry replacement ones for faucets). I looked at plumbing supply places and they want to sell me a bag of 500 for $20.00.

Before I go the route of spending $20 and having 499 extra O-rings, does anyone have ideas where to get one or two of these? Does anyone else have the TMI deck fill? If so we can probably refit every Cape Dory with a TMI deck fill for about 40 or 60 bucks. 8^)
