The boat I am buying is going to be surveyed this afternoon. It is hull #306 and produced in 1975. Any trouble spots to look for specifically? Suggestions? This is my first sailboat I've bought, so any tips will be helpful before I complete the purchase. Also, what is the general selling range? It looks like I'll be paying about $5,300. Two sets of sails, newer outboard, a number of added instruments. Any help would be appreciated...
TIA,
Doug

Re: CD25 Survey and Purchase Suggestions?
Thats about what I paid for my 78 CD 25 (607)with original sails and a newer genoa. It has a '98 8hp 2 stroke and no extra's, electronics or such.
Always sailed on the NY finger lakes, no hard use and the previous ownwer took pretty good care of her up untill the last couple of years.
The surveyor will know what to look for, of most concern to me was delamination or a lot of moisture in the core. But that was because I had previously looked at (and gotten excited about) a Bristol that looked terrific but had delamination all over the deck and cabin top. I learned a lot that day. One of the boats the surveyor recommended to me was the Cape Dory because they have an excellent reputation for quality build and he had seen very few with serious problems. Best advice I ever got - we love our new old boat.
Good luck - let us know how the survey goes
