I removed two bolts and nuts that had mounted some type of fishing rod holder to the side of my cockpit lazerette. I am going to discard the holder, but am left with the two holes that were drilled in the fiberglass to mount the gizmo. What procedure or product should I use to fill the holes ?? I assume that something needs to be done to maintain the integrity of the fiberglass?
Thanks for all advice

Hi Joel...
From you description the holes are less than 1/2" dia. If so... here is what I have done.
1. Chamfer out the holes on top to get a good bevel. Mask the area/ Mix up POLYESTER resin and some chopped fiberglass strands to make a very stiff mix. Chop the fiberglass strands short 1/4" or less.
2. Tape up the back of the hole well so the stuff wont run out and pack it full with the mix. Fill the hole less than flush with the mix. After the mix gels you can shape with a sureform tool.
3. After it sets sand and shape with 100 grit.
4. Mask again. Mix up polyester gelcoat. Color match if required. Or order some matching from one of the suppliers of this stuff. Let the gelcoat air out and thicken slightly. Fill the hole a little above flush. When it sets sand with progressively finer paper and buff.
5. After a while in the sun you wont be able to see the patch.
Good luck
