On the engine control panel (Volvo MD7) what is the little pull out switch on the bottom? My manual doesn't refer to it and the panel is rather weather worn i.e. no label. On a previous Yanmar I had there was a switch like this that allowed you to check the warning system---could it be something like that?

Seems to me you are referring to the lights switch. When you pull it out, the dials (tachometer and oil press., temp.) are supossed to illuminate. At least that is the function it has on our CD 30, same engine.

Thanks folks learn something new every day. If it were a little closer to the companionway I could probably illuminate my combination lock on those nights I forget the flashlight.
