John Churchill's trip to Bermuda

Post by Craig Youse »

I received this letter from John Churchill in response to a recent posting of mine:

"Craig-
A friend sent me your posting off the CD board. I made a mildly
harrowing singlehanded trip from Virginia to Bermuda and back on my CD
26 a few years ago. I wrote it up and it was published in the CDSOA
newsletter. I do not have it in a file, but you have permission to put
it on a not for profit website if you wish. You can get a copy from
Ward Welsh, the newsletter editor.
I currently sail a 28' Bristol Channel Cutter. We've been to the
Bahamas a year ago, Maine last summer. Leaving for Ireland via
Bermuda/Azores in 10 days with my father as crew. Surprisingly enough,
this boat is as good as all the propaganda suggests.
John Churchill"

I'm trying to get my hands on a copy of the newsletter he was talking about. Can anyone give me a hand? Peter K. pointed out where I could find a string of messages about the trip, but I am looking for the whole story.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

My wife has agreed to transfer the story back into digital format (i.e. retype it into the computer)so I can load it up to my website.

Once I have loaded it up to the website, I'll post another message here. That way anyone interested in reading it and/or copying it can do so.

Thanks Again!
Fair Winds.
