Perkins Perama diesel

Post by john bunker cd33 No6 »

i would appreciate hearing from anyone who has maintained a perkins perama diesel.. or any diesel with a jabsco raw water engine pump ... their is an aspect to replacing the raw water impeller which puzzles me ... and i suspect might have been a problem to others ... Jabsco makes both the assembly and the relacement impellers.. but i notice that the bolt passing through the impeller and the drive shaft,{ this is the bolt that is supplied with the impellers,} appears too small in diameter and the continual movement is wearing the driveshaft .. the shaft is smooth and the threaded bolt wears into it... the logical idea would be to install an insert to boost the diameter of the bolt where it passes through the drive shaft and to have smooth metal touching... the previous owner of my engine was unable to come up with a satisfactory solution after contacting different suppliers and the service and shop manual i have, gives little help.. i notice the wear on the drive shaft from the back and forth movement .. pump model is 29450-1101.. hot day here in vero beach fla.. back to the engine room !!
