Cape Dorys, what a nice yacht

Post by Dave »

Working on R&R in the boat yard, getting her ready for her launch date there always is someone that walks by and says, "is that a cape dory?" And this shows me the quality and lines of a cape dory are known everwhere. It's not like you hear in the yard, wow, that's a nice Hunter! Not, that they are a bad boat... Well, you all know what I mean. Just saying I am glad I made a great purchase, and thanks for all the help over the years.

I know what you mean. I just came back from doing some finishing touches to Red Witch III, and had a long conversation with the skipper of a 32' Southern Cross. He knew and admired the lines of my CD 30 too. There just seems to be a great deal of respect amongst great boat owners. I too thank the advice of many of the contributors to this board. Your advice is always welcome, and I hope to beat to the wind with any and all of you in the Mount Hope Bay area.

Dave, I know what you mean. I had a long conversation with the skipper of a 32' Southern Cross near my CD 30B Red Witch III. We both admired the lines and classic style of our New England Boats. I guess it comes with the territory. Also would like to thank the many contributor to this page. Your advice is always welcome. Hope to see you folks on Mount Hope Bay.

Must be a lot of it going around. While prepping RESPITE for launch, a broker was showing a couple a boat near us. They apparently were not impressed. So I'm sort of half working and half listening to the standard line of BS from the broker (about 25' aport of me). When I hear him tell this prospective clients--while pointing to RESPITE--"That's a Cape Dory, one of the finest boats ever built in America." I guess he knew more than I thought he did.
Best wishes,
