Last fall, while removing Rhapsody's jib from the furling gear, someone dropped the tack clevis pin from the downhaul and of course it disappeared over the side. I have been unable to find a 5/8" x 2-1/2" clevis to replace it. However, I recently found a 5/8" x 2/1/2" "rigging pin" that would work. Is there any reason to not use a rigging pin rather than a clevis? In the interim we're using a SS bolt with locknut until we replace it.

if you can't find what you need, you can make a pin by starting with the appropriate diameter and length stainless carriage bolt and drilling a 1/8 in hole (or two if you want to cut off the head too) for a cotter pin

I am not familiar with the term "rigging pin", but you can get a stainless clevis pin at McMaster-Carr.

To be honest, neither was I. I was at Fawcett Marine in Annapolis over the weekend and was browsing their hardware section when I came across "rigging pins," which look like clevis pins without a head at one end and holes in both ends.
Thanks for the link!
