CD25D Transom
Does anybody know the dimension of the transom on the CD25D. I am having some new lettering for the boat name and need the dimension for proper letter sizing. Should have measured last time I was at the boat, If someone knows it will save me a couple of hours driving.
Thanks

Re: CD25D Transom
You probably want 4" to 5" letters, but take the the time and drive to the boat with a tape measure. This way you will be assured of getting the look that you want. Consider the size of the hailage letters at the same time.

Robert:
Don't forget to allow for the exhaust and any vents/fittings on the transom - if you are going to drive to the boat, you might want to make a paper template of the transom so that your lettering guy can fit everything in the right place.

Re: CD25D Transom
My wife and I used an interesting technique... we took a digital picture of the transom, then transferred the picture from the camera to our computer. Then we brought up an image editing program and tried different letter styles, colors, and sizes until we found a combination we liked. Finally, we used a measuring tape to get the distance between of a couple of known points on the transom and computed the letter sizes using simple ratios. Then we went to a print shop with our picture and the measurements!Robert Pierce wrote: Does anybody know the dimension of the transom on the CD25D. The end result was very nice lettering, and no suprises...

Robert:
I did happen to have the dimensions in my notebook, as I too, was planning to re-do the lettering. It's 63 1/4" wide at the top. Do you want your letters to follow the curve of the deck i.e. , the top of the transom? If so, here are the offsets:
Snap a straight line from upper corner to upper corner.
Inches from corner: 7" 12" 17" 22" 27" CL
In. from deck to line: 2 1/2 4 1/8 4 3/4 5 1/4 5 3/4 6"
Good Luck,

Re: CD25D Transom
Note that if your letters are straight (not arched), the visual effect will be that the name arches up at the ends, because of the shape of the transom. I recently re-did mine, because I did not like that. Now the middle arches up (but not as much as it appeared to when the letters lay flat, if you catch my drift).

Re: CD25D Transom
WE JUST COMPLETED THE RE-LETTERING OF OUR 25D. ASIDE FROM THE WIDTH, DON'T FORGET THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE TWO VENTS AND THE STERN LADDER BUMPERS- APPROXIMATELY 11". THE LETTERS WE USED FOR "LIVELY LADY" ARE LARGE ENOUGH TO ALLOW FOR 14" TO EDGE OF TRANSOM. WE USED A STRAIGNT LINE FORMAT, NO CURVE.
