I acquired a CD25 at a boat auction last November. The teak looks terrible and I'm planning on using cetol. Any suggestions or recomendations for the original prep. The teak may have been originally finished with teak oil but it's been awhile since someone has worked on it.

I used Cetol for my CD25 and I like it. Not to sound too glib, but just follow the instuctions on the can for best results. As far as prep. goes, I sanded everything down then wipe with acetone.
It is important to do this out of direct sunlight and not too hot or cold. I did most of my teak at home or under cover and let at least 24 hrs drying between coats. It looks really nice. I have a friend who did his coaming boards with cetol and it came out looking awfull. He did his on a hot sunny afternoon all three coats. So the difference will be in how you plan to do it. I recommend you spend the time to do it right and you will be happy.

One of the SanJaun pages I frequent, No i'm not going out to buy a SJ but the owner of the boat does have some nice projects that would fit in for us with the smaller CD's. Had an interesting print up on Sikkins. after clicking on the link go to "J" chemicals and the Sikkens prep guide "J05".
