Cruising Direct sails for Ty

I'm purchasing a new main and jib, does anyone have any experience with cruising direct. They seem to have the best prices. Any comments appreciated.

Josh,
No personal experieince but I believe Cruising Direct is actually a division of North Sails. So at least you know its a reputable first line sailmaker behind them.

Take a look at the weight of the cloth, it may be lighter, and compare the reinforcement at the corners to the more expensive sails. It may be fine for your use. You will get tons of opinions and information on sails. When I bought mine everybody was an "expert", I finally had to make up my mind and went with Mack Sails.

A year ago, I had Cruising Direct make me a mainsail, for another boat I own. They sent me the worksheet for the deminsions, and a few samples of cloth. And as Warren pointed out, they are an outlet for North Sails. I could not be more pleased with the workmanship! It fit perfectly! And yes the price was the lowest of the lofts I contacted!!

I too investigated several lofts before ordering new sails for my Ty. Most of what I learned steered me away from Crusing Direct - not for worksmanship of the North loft, but for the quality/weight of the sailcloth. I finally ordered from Quantum/Thurston. Their sails cost a bit more, but I have great confidence in the both quality and workmanship in buying previous sails (for another boat) and for their service!
