I just bought a boat with a seaward hillerange alcohol stove and oven. (not a Cape Dory, Sorry) Found this site when searching for any advice on rebuild etc. stove has sat for at least 4 years unused and probably needs a rebuild. what does this entail. take apart and clean or should i have a kit in hand before i start. Direct replies would be appreciated.
Thanks, Paul Priebe

Re: Seaward Hillerange
Paul,
I just bought a CD-30(1984) that has what sounds like the same range/oven. Look in old messages in this site and you will see what I did to rebuild mine. It had not been used in at least two years and after the rebuild it works like new. It is easyer to rebuild if you take the range completely out of the boat and take it home to work on it. You have to dissemble the back pannel and the stove top to get at the burners. Leak checking on completion is important. Pressurize the system at home with no alcohol and use soapy water to check every connection and bolt. The parts required cost about $5.00 per burner from Seaward. New burner grates cost about $31.00 for two. It's a good range and well worth rebuilding, if you have the time. Come back on this site if you have any further questions.

Sorry, but I forgot to tell you to use the search engine and search on Hiller Range. You"ll get all kinds of stuff! The alternative is to scrowl back through all the older messages until you find it.D. Stump, Hanalei wrote: Paul,
