New CD25 Web Page - Jim Stull's SEGUE!

Post by Jon »

Greetings All!

Many of us are familiar with Jim Stull's frequent posts on this site, offering a wealth of knowledge and opportunity for us all to benefit from. Now all have a chance to see his handiwork in great detail. Jim Stull's Cape Dory 25 SEGUE now has a page at Sovereign's site. Segue is a real beauty, one of the nicest 25s out there. On Segue's page, Jim details the the whole process he undertook in transforming hull #212 into a real jewel. Installation of opening bronze ports, boom gallows, a bridge deck, black locust cockpit sole - are all shown. Also, don't miss the sub page on the hull painting!

I'd also like to take this opportunity to publicly thank Jim for his contribution to Sovereign's Site. Segue's page is a significant improvement to the site, encouraging and enabling others to enjoy these great boats to the fullest.

All photos and writing are courtesy of Jim Stull. The link below will take you there.

Cheers,
Jon

Jim,
BEAUTIFULLLLLL! What a nice job! A question or two. How long did this take you? Did you do most or all of the work at one time before going sailing, or, did you spread this over a few seasons?
Again, you have a boat to be proud of as a result of a job well done!

What a great job this is! It reminds me of why I bought a CD25 with trailer....to GO PLACES. I'll look forward to pulling her out next winter to copy some of Mr. Stull's fine work. Then I'll spiff up the trailer....then I'll put in for vacation time....then.....(oh boy, oh boy!)...

Thanks, JimL

Jim;
What a wonderful piece of craftsmanship. You have built a boat to die for. Maybe even make Hinckley owners look twice. My hat is off to you.

Hi Warren
Thanks for the kind comments.
We got the boat home in early Oct. We made slip arrangements for the following May but we were not able to launch until the second week of July. The first year we did the hull , portlits thru hulls and the like. The second winter we did the new wiring, plumbing stove and so forth.
I read somewhere that "one should build their second boat first". This sure was our case. Learned a lot! We put in the last 3 portlites in less time than the first one took.

Congratulations Jim! Your little sloop is awesome. Best wishes, BA (in my 14th year of sailing "Simpatico", hull no. 841)
