I am in the process of purchasing a 1978 CD 28. While the deck pump out hose and vent are in place, no head holding tank was ever installed. I will need to do this. Does anyone know the proper size or shape or placement of this tank? There appears to be space just aft of the fresh water tank. Is there a source of the right size tank which would allow the easiest installation with the minimum of work? Thanks.

I installed a holding tank in my CD26 this spring. I used a rigid plastic tank on the port side just behind the fresh water tank. I would do a few things differently if I were to do it over. Peggy Hall of Peal Products in GA is an expert in the field. There is quite a bit of info on the Sailing forum on Compuserve. If you don't have access to Compuserve, look for her advertisements for K.O. ( an odor reliever for holding tanks ) in the sailing magazines.Craig L. in the locker under the V berth between the forward bulwalk
and the fresh water tank. The tank was from SeaLand and
was a very strange shape that just fitted perfectly.
I also installed a pump-out to the deck and a masserator for
pumping out to the sea.
