Hudson River Get-Together: July 4-7

Post by Catherine Monaghan »

Northeast sailors mark your calendars. We're planning a Cape Dory Get-Together on the Hudson River July 4-7, 2002. Plan on taking Friday off. Most should already have off on the 4th.

Details will be posted on the CDSOA's "Events" page (Northeast Fleet section) as it becomes available. This event will be open to ALL Cape Dory owners both power and sail.

Right now it looks like we'll be meeting in the anchorage of Croton Point Park, Croton-on-Hudson, NY (subject to change) the afternoon of the 4th where we should be able to enjoy the fireworks in the surrounding area that evening. We'll sail somewhere else on the 5th (don't know where yet) and then return to Croton Point Park on the 6th where weekend sailors can meet up with us if they cannot get away before then. Sunday we head home.

I'll keep ya posted.

Warren,

Maybe so, but I'm putting in work ahead of time to help Cathy plan a couple of side trips for the 5th and the 6th.

Hey, it's only one long day from Oyster Bay!!! You could do it, too!!

Bill

Captain Cathy,

Macht Nichts CD 30 MK II will be there!!!!!! Am trying to convince Captain Larry Austin "Layla" CD 30 MK II and Captain Dick Feffer "Adamarie" CD 30 MK II. This will complete the "THRE AMIGOS"

Will discuss at the MK II Captains Lunch tomorrow in Norwalk CT and will report back to the board!!!!!

Perhaps we could get in a pre season RACE....what say you Captain Goldsmith and your trusty cohort Mark ?

Captain Heintz:
If all of us hit Hell Gate at the same time, we may add a knot or two to the flood! As the time approaches, maybe I can get your sailing schedule and meet you out on the Sound on the way to NYC. Then we can really practice tweaking the sails with one another.

Captain Haley,

Meeting today with Captains Austin and Feffer. I have Eldridge in hand and will figure best time to transit NYC. I will keep you posted.

This will be a good test to see if that new to you CD330 can keep up with the THREE AMIGOS CD 30 MK II 's

Guys,

On July 4th the southwest ebb begins at Hell Gate at 5:55 a.m. and the flood doesn't begin until 12:21 p.m. You'll have all morning to get through the East River and then the flood will help you up the Hudson, just get past Hell Gate before the flood begins. Your trip will actually be easier than ours since we'll be fighting the ebb through The Narrows. Maybe we could meet up near The Battery and sail up to Croton Point together??? Croton Point is about 33 miles north of The Battery.
