Whale Galley Pump Bracket

Has anyone replaced their metal bracket for the foot pump with a product you found in the aftermarket?

Sort of Joe, I made a new one out of 1/4" X 4" aluminum "L" extrusion.
I cut the hole for the lever with a hole saw. Drilled the mounting holes, finished all the edges, then primed with zinc chromate, top coated with polyurethane. I replaced the pumps rubber foot pad with one I made out of teak that matches the original rubber one (which tends to split with time). I can send you a pic if you want.

John, that's a big help. Was the extrusion available at a source I might find locally or mail order?

The aluminum extrusion is available at most decent aluminum supply houses. Just look in your local yellow pages under "aluminum".

I don't know about any particular mail order places but i'm sure they are out there. I get the stuff locally.

I'll e-mail you that picture.

If all you need is a little chunk of 4 x 4 angle in 1/4" thickness, let me know how long - we probably have some scrap around I could send you.

Duncan, thanks a lot for the offer. The bracket I removed is made from mild steel 4" angle; dimensions of each side = 4x4. It is also 4" wide. The largest I could find locally (fairly small town) today was a 2" extrusion. If you have such a thing I'd be happy to have it and pay accordingly.
