Motor mount and Bronze shaft source requested

Post by David Rowland »

Can anyone recommend sources for Volvo MD7A motor mounts? I tried Bushings, Inc, after searching the archives, and West Marine won't deal with them (?!). Also, while I'm doing my cutless bearing next month, I might have to replace the shaft. What is the best source for a CD30K bronze prop shaft?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Don't deal with West Marine, Call Bushings inc direct. They will send you a catalog.
Any machine shop can build your shaft just hand them the old one and tell them to duplicate it.

re shaft, in the boston area there are two propellor companies that do this - New England Prop 617-288-3132 and H and H prop 978-744-3806 - i am sure they can do it by UPS if necessary - you give or send them all the parts removed (prop, shaft, tranny coupling, stuffing box) and they clean everything up, make new shaft etc - i highly recommend NE Prop who have done this for me twice, cost several hundred dollars i believe but less than $500 and well worth it - your prop will be fixed so it looks new -
