Weather/Lee Cloth Usage

Post by Don Carr »

Just curious as to whether anyone is using weather/lee cloths. They used to be very popular for offshore work on the lower freeboard boats of the 60's and 70's (most notably Alberg designs). They really help keep a semblence of a dry cockpit in beam seas.

Hi Don

FWIW, I like the way they look and on my 25D, "IF" I were on the coast I think I would at least try them....

I use them on Spanish Eyes, my CD30. They really help keep you from getting a rude splash in the face when its sloppy, especially offshore. They are most useful here in Texas in the winter, when its more windy. In summer we need all the breeze we can get. I like the looks of them too.

Don,

I use them in cold weather to warm up the cockpit, even when tied up. I remove them in the summer to maximize ventilation.
