While we are on the subject of teak maintenance, does anybody have any suggestions on sanding it? The teak on my CD has never been varnished or cetoled. The boat sat in a barn for 8 of her 24 years and grain is significantly raised. This spring I plan to sand it smooth before reoiling. There is plenty of wood left to sand, I'm not sure that it has ever been sanded, but is there anything I should know before embarking on this project? And yes, I do plan on oiling it.

Mitch, there is much good information and a lot of opinions in the archives. I'd do a search, then come back with questions. FWIW, I would discourage you from sanding, then oiling the teak, as it seems likely you'll have a continuing mildew problem. Cleaning takes its toll on the teak (the raised areas you mentioned as wood goes away). 20 years ago I regularly oiled the teak on my TY weekender. On the last three CDs I've used varnish (I know, I know). Oil is pretty, but in my experience not a lasting solution. More to your point, I'd start with 80 if it's rough, then 120, then 220.
