Take care of yourself as well as your boat.

Last week was a busy one for me. Third operation on my left arm to remove a carcinoma, think they got it all this time. Nuclear stress test the next day, everything O.K. even after 21 years of heart disease including quintuple bypass, the next day consultation at Johns Hopkins re: prostate cancer. More tests March 3. If eveything goes well hope to have a boat and back on the water by summer. Turned 73 on Friday. Guess I didn't take care of myself as well as I did my boats. If you are over 40 get those checkups, just like you check that boat. Bob

Hi Bob,
If i'm correct, you had post a search for a CD30 or CD33 on this board. I hope you will find one. I just want to say that you have the same age of my father. He used to sail with CD28, CD30, CD33 and now it's a typhoon. I sail with him and he told me that he love eachs CD that he owned but is favorite is the Typhoon. I just want to say the size is not all.

Thank's for the advise i'm 41 now.

Have a nice sailing summer Bob

Bob: Your inspiration to keep sailing is admirable (no pun intended). It keeps you young when there's no young ladies around. Good luck with your trials.

Ode to Bob

As someone once said a long time ago
You don't stop sailing as you grow older.
You grow old when you stop sailing
And also become less bolder.

There's something about the waters of the sea
That become enduring to your heart.
As if the salt is part of life
And life can't do without.

Your boat reflects the way you live
It's condition mirrors your own.
Mistreat her lines in any way
And you'll feel the seeds you've sown.

Varnish her teak and mend her sails
She'll take your crew to glory.
St. Peter will be awaiting you by the gate
Sailing in his Cape Dory!
