Yanmar 1GM engine stop cable replacement

Post by Dennis Ward »

The pastic flange on the knob end of my engine stop cable broke off, rendering the assembly usless. My CD25D and I are a long way inland from a Yanmar dealer. Could anybody recommend a dealer or parts place that would be reasonable? Thanks, Dennis CD25D "Serenity"

Dennis

Here is one of the sites I use. I have found these guys very helpful and cheaper than Mack Boring in the NE.....

Where do you sail?

Thanks for the info. I sail my 25D on Lake Maumelle, ten miles west of Little Rock, AR Dennis

Hi Dennis
I have recently pulled the old 1GM Yanmar out of the CD27 we are re-building.
If you could e-mail me a little sketch of what you are looking for, I will dig thru the pile of stuff we removed. I am replacing all this gear with new and if I have the part, you can have it.

Do you also have a 30 (or was it a 36) on the coast???

Between you and me and Keith Wood we could start our own inland 25D fleet!!! :<)

The folks at Torressen marine have been extremely helpful both times that I have needed to find parts. They have been able to find the correct part and also sent me an e-mail with those part numbers for further use.
Had occasion to replace the stop cable last year. Easily done except for the nylon tiewraps securing the cable to the engine's air vent hoses (access thru the port cockpit locker - upside down-).
I highly recommend tying a string to the engine end of the old cable
before pulling it out.....it helps guide the new one in.
Check out Torressen on their website. Turnaround time on your order is usually very quick, and it's shipped right to the house.

Bill:

I have sailed with Dennis on his 25-D; and you have sailed with me on my 25-D. Guess Dennis needs to drive next, or if you two would like, both of you could join me aboard Witness one windy day in March before I take her out of the water for an extended period while I build my house.

Bill and Keith, Torresen fixed me right up. Great people, good service and the price was reasonable. The other boat is a cd33 on Greers Ferry Lake which is about 50 miles north of Little Rock. We could all three meet there and form an inland Cape Dory group!

Sounds like a plan to me....I need to familiarize with the 33 (as I will be crewing aboard Evening Light) prior to heading back east in august....Pick a date and let me know.....OR as Keith said it does sound as if it is Dennis' time to drive, but whatever!!!
