a fond farewell! ... and if you're looking for a Ty...

As much as it pained me to let her go, I traded in my beloved Typhoon on a wonderful vintage Tartan 27. I wasn't looking to upgrade to a larger boat yet but sometimes that great deal comes along and you can't pass it up. Although the boat is a S&S design, it is very similar in design to an Albery 30. So much in fact that they are very often confused. I also like to fact that it was built less than 20 miles from where I live.

This boat will be the ideal Lake Erie crusing boat for my fiancee and I. We are already planning this coming summer's adventures. This was the only thing that the Ty lacked for us; the ability to cruise far.

Thanks to all for the great things I've learned on this list!

So if you're looking for a great Typhoon, I don't know how much it'll go for but here's the list:

1970 Typhoon - stock boat, no modifications other than an awful dark blue non-skid put on by a previous owner.

2001: New Main, reconditioned headsails & kite
New porta-potti
All new running rigging - and I mean everything
Slab reefing and boom vang
new canvas: main cover, tiller cover & deck headlsail bag
Chrome Nicro solor vent
4hp Johnson OB - looks bad but runs great!
ON TRAILER

The broker indicated he intends to redo the bottom with an epoxy barrier and VC-17.

The Tartan 27 is a great boat, definately considered a "classic." Hope to hear from you periodically on the board with experiences from you new boat. By the way, you can always upgrade to a CD 33 in the future.....
